Tigers are one of the most fascinating creatures on the planet, Earth. These dangerous and, at the same time, beautiful wild felines have always attracted human attention. People could not but admire the Tiger's grace, apparent peace of mind, and strength. Unfortunately, due to attacks on humans, the Tiger has become a reputed man-eater. However, attitude to these magnificent animals is changing. Now, humans realize the importance of the species and are trying to preserve them.

Tigers Pictures - Habitat

The best habitat for the Tiger is dense cover that allows it to hunt. Availability of water resources and prey (usually ungulates such as deer and swine) matters to their survival. The tiger species live in fragmented areas across Asia and India through the Russian Far East. They are found in tropical rainforests, temperate climates, and other forested areas.

Tigers Pictures - Diet

A powerful hunter, the Tiger hunts mainly on the wild boar, swine, deer, gaur, and other animals. Attacks on domestic livestock such as cows and goats also occur. Tigers were known to attack humans.

The species hunts early at night, usually between the dusk and the dawn. Tigers can travel up to 20 miles in search of prey while slowly stalking in the dense cover. Once the victim is about 30-35 feet from the Tiger, it will catch the prey and hold it with its strong forepaws. Tigers usually bite the prey on the neck to kill it and then transport it to a safe place for the tiger to eat.

A Tiger meal is usually about 33-40 pounds. Therefore, a large prey is likely to be eaten in one week. It should be said, that Tiger hunts are not always successful with their hunting. Sometimes, Tigers repeat their attempts 10-20 times before the prey is caught.
